            Re:      December 13, 2006 Smart Growth Workshop, 6:00 p.m.

Dear Members and Interested Parties.

The recommendations of the Smart Growth Committee have in their many components been moved to the various policy and management arenas for further action.  The last pieces involving policy are going through the Comprehensive Plan Amendment cycle.  The overall set of recommendations, not only developed by the Smart Growth Committee but other sources, can be found in their immense entirety at this web site:

http://www.lee-county.com/dcd/ComprehensivePlanning/PlanAmendments/RA2005-2006.htm

We are having a workshop on December 13th, 1st Floor County Administration Building, 2115 2nd Street on the future work program of the Smart Growth Committee, and future meeting structure and frequency of the Committee.  The workshop will be fairly open ended, but it is my request that the attached excerpts from the County Commission Goals for 2006-7 (in which implementation of the SG recommendations features prominently) be addressed for what role the Committee feels would be constructive.

I am looking forward to seeing you on the 13th.
