SMART GROWTH MINUTES

December 13 , 2006 Workshop Meeting

Time and Place: Wednesday, December 13, 6-8 p.m., 1^st Floor, Lee County Administration Building 2115 Second Street, Fort Myers Florida.

I.                   Call to Order, Introductions, Review of Agenda

The Workshop was called to order at 6:00 pm, 2115 2^nd Street, 1^st Floor meeting room, December 13^th, 2006.

The following committee members in attendance:

Wayne Daltry, Director of Smart Growth

Tim Jones, County Attorney



Wayne Daltry distributed an interview with J. H. Kunstler, from the November/December   2006 Urban Land magazine.

The workshop reviewed the Commission/Manager Goals and Objectives for FY 2006-7.

      The Committee agreed to take on tasks (using the framework of the handout):

Review the comprehensive, simple and understandable SG checklist - May 2007.

1.2. -   Review mixed use, village maps. Host any workshops on the mixed use map

1.5. a. - Host workshop on master mitigation plan and map.

1.10. - Host workshops on discussions for cost effective alternate energy sources.

4.4. - Serve as forum for evaluating impact of “any new service level requests” including those resulting from Federal or State devolution, wherein the County becomes the expected “default” provider.

7.2. - Host a meeting with TDC/VCB on Smart Growth/Tourism interface.

7.4. - Review implications of commercial and industrial land use study, particularly with the mixed use concepts and workforce housing needs.

8.1-2. - Serve as forum for discussion on charter amendment on establishing urban service boundary, or at least process for ensuring the Cities and County agree on annexations and municipal services.

The next full meeting of the Committee is January 17^th,2007.
